[/i] Without saying another word, the stranger left never to be seen or heard from again.
Decades ago, a lone wolf ventured from his pack in order to find food. Being gone for several days and nights with no rest, he became weary and exhausted. He soon collapsed to the ground with no more strength to move on, this is when he heard it. A low howl in the distance. But there were no other wolves here, he would have smelt them.
There it was again, that strange howl. He looked up weakly to see what appeared to be a large alter with four platforms. Standing on each platform was a statue, the statues of four great wolves who govern the land. Though he originally thought the stories of these four gods were rumors meant to encourage their cubs to grow strong. Now however, he saw that the stories were true, four great gods who controlled the elements, Air, Water, Fire and Earth.
At closer inspection he saw there was a set of pawprints on each platform. Beside each set of pawprints there were intricate designs and symbols. Each indicated a type of element. After seeing this, he knew what he had to do. Using what little strength he had left, the wolf pushed himself back to his feet and wandered forward.
As he slowly reached the four statues he paused to think for a moment, I have to place my paws onto the correct element, onto the element that I can control.... but what is it? As if it was a simple sign, are strong gust of wind blew past the wolf almost knocking him off his feet.
In response to this, he walked forward and placed his paws on the upper right statue. The wolf's mind immediately went somewhere else, as if it were an unknown world, but it wasn't. It was the very same world he belonged to. Watching in horror, he could do nothing as several forests were burning with hot flames, humans scattered throughout the lands destroying everything that the wolves hold dear.
Are you prepared? Came a deep voice from behind him as the vision finally ceased. It was a huge white wolf with bright blue eyes and strange black markings all over his body. That is a vision of what will soon come to pass. But you have the power to change the future, with the power of wind. Are you prepared?
Without hesitation the lone wolf nodded his head and peered into the god's eyes. I am, what do I have to do?
Create a wolf pack that can rival The Fates, you are to train the wolves in that pack to fight and for war. Though war is never a pretty thing, but it's something that can't be avoided at times. Your pack will become the guardians of this forest, you will protect this place and the animals from human attacks. But I'm not asking you to kill all humans, some are kind and caring creatures, just be wary of those with shifty eyes.
Listening to what he has been told, the lone wolf created his own pack in order to protect what he held most dear to him. They remained in the ancient forest of Glahaven for centuries and soon became known as the ancients.
