The morning crept along the vast lands of Lasonia, chasing away the shadows and gristle of the night. A gentle breeze was caressing the new day and bringing the soft chatter of the birds and other small animals living in the canopy of trees.
A wolf was roused from his slumber by the enthralling light, his fur rusting with the wind as he precariously stretched his limbs. He had been resting on an elevated rock somewhere just beyond the pack border, over looking a small clearing in the trees where animals danced and glided back to their homes amongst the brush. Ashlen yawned, the noise escaping his mighty jaws as he lifted them to the sky and welcomed whatever adventure awaited him today.
Whatever it was, good or bad, he would be ready for it. A positive out look on life was important to the young Golden, something he had adapted to over the years. Wandering alone through thick and thin was exhausting. It threatened to drive him mad once or twice, and only the appreciation for a new day, a chance to forget what had happened in the past, kept him moving. The Lupo had wandered aimlessly with no goal, no set destination, for the past two years. It was only until he found Lasonia that he had remained in one place more than a day.
With the gentle flick of his audes the large wolf heaved himself to his feet, looking down on the forest with a sense of self satisfaction. He was proud of his find. This place was heavenly compared to the berth he had traveled through. Of course, he was not pack and had to be very careful about how far he walked. The Lupo was not one for violence at all and didn't want to anger any of the wolves living nearby. The thought made him bristle as he double checked his surroundings for any signs of wolf. There was nothing, as far as he was concerned, though he could not be too sure about upwind and decided it best to move his location.
The large Steppe dipped on his front paws, listening to his muscles ripple against the taut skin of his shoulders. It had been ages since Ashlen had been this relaxed. It felt good, healthy. He smiled at his accomplishment and turned back towards the trees, listening to his nails click against the stone as he descended back to the disheveled forest floor. It was time to find some breakfast.
